How long does it take to get my results?

Processing time

All criminal record verifications are processed by RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services in Ottawa, in the order in which they are received without an option for expediting the process. The normal processing times are as follows:

  • Applicant without previous police incident: If you do not have a record of being fingerprinted by police for an offense, your wait time would most likely be 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Applicant with previous police incident: If you have ever been fingerprinted by a police force in Canada for an offense regardless of the outcome no matter how long ago it was, your fingerprints are on file and your application may take in excess of 120 days to process. Below are circumstances that may impact processing time:
    • Not Guilty
    • Charges dismissed
    • Charges withdrawn
    • Peace Bond
    • Conditional Discharge
    • Un-Conditional Discharge
    • Sine Die Adjournment
    • Probation

How to follow up if there is a delay

Online Criminal Record Check (eCPIC)

Applying for your Canadian criminal record check online is the simplest, fastest, and most cost-effective method. To begin the process, you'll input your information, answer straightforward identity verification questions, and submit your application with just a click. With our efficient online portal, you'll receive your criminal record check result in less than 15 minutes via email.

There are two reporting levels available online: Basic and Enhanced. The Basic report includes an applicant's convictions from the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records. On the other hand, the Enhanced report goes further, encompassing all Basic reporting information and adding details like arrest warrants, outstanding charges, local police records, data from the Police Information Portal (PIP), and additional criminal records.

Notably, the online process doesn't require fingerprinting for identity verification. Instead, the "eIV" method is employed, involving a few simple questions about your name, date of birth, and credit history. In rare cases where eIV is insufficient, alternative methods, such as in-person ID verification at our office or a nearby Canada Post location, may be recommended.

Common Questions

Is my police certificate going to be different a different certificate than a local police department?
Here at CROSS-CHECKS™️ an RCMP accredited agency, our role is same as local police stations, we capture your fingerprints electronically and submit them to the RCMP in Ottawa directly. Therefore, whether your fingerprints are captured by us or you, your designated agency will receive exactly same Police Certificate/Clearance report from RCMP. Local police stations do not issue such a certificate.

What are your rates like?
Although we tend to have lower prices than local police departments (prices vary per police department), we ensure to provide fair pricing as well as high quality and efficient services to our clients.

What if I am not in Canada but need my fingerprints done?
CROSS-CHECKS™️ is also authorized and capable of digitalizing ink fingerprints taken by any Police Service worldwide and submit them electronically to the RCMP for a fast processing. This is our International Fingerprinting service for individuals that are unable to visit our office to have digital fingerprinting done for a Canadian criminal record check.

I need ink fingerprint but the police station does not do it anymore, can I do it here?
Since the RCMP no longer accepts ink and roll fingerprints (Since 2014), we also offer Ink and Roll Fingerprint services for those who need fingerprinting to another country.

Will it be faster to get my fingerprints done at a police station than coming here?
Regarding processing times, going to your local police department or to us will NOT affect your processing times, as applications are all submitted to RCMP in Ottawa and sent out through regular mail. There are no priority selections or expediting Police Certificates.
