The online criminal record check is available at Basic or Enhanced reporting level. The main difference is the extent of search that is conducted, as well as the amount of background data that is included in each level of reporting.

The Basic report includes an applicant's convictions that are held within the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records.

The Enhanced report includes all the information in Basic reporting plus an applicant's arrest warrants, outstanding charges, local police records, data from Police Information Portal (PIP) and other criminal records.

Fingerprinting is not required and not used as a means for identity verification when applying for an online criminal record check. Instead, the "eIV" method is used to verify your identity. eIV involves a few simple questions including your name, date of birth and your credit history. In rare cases, if the eVI method is not sufficient, alternative ways would be recommended including in person ID verification at our office or at a Canada Post location near your residence.
