Frequently asked question
+ How do I know if this is the service I need?
Digital fingerprinting is required when applying for Immigration, Canada Citizenship, Government and private employment, Name change, Foreign travel visa, Record Suspension and US waiver, volunteer work. In addition, in most cases the entity who is asking you to provide criminal record check document would specify the type you need. But if you are not certain please contact us for consultation.
+ How many different types of criminal record checks are there?
Most government agencies and employers request for RCMP Certified Criminal Record Check (digital fingerprinting). There are 2 more types; name-based check and vulnerable sector check and you should ONLY apply for those if you are specifically instructed to do so.
+ How long does it take to get my criminal check results?
We will diligently forward your digital fingerprints and required information to the RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) in Ottawa. The processing duration for CCRTIS to complete a certified criminal record check is a minimum of 3 business days following the submission of your application. It is important to note that this timeframe may significantly vary in cases where the applicant has a history of police charges.
+ Who would have access to my criminal report check?
Your certified criminal record check report shall be sent ONLY to the entity that you specified at the time of application by regular mail.
+ Can I receive my criminal report check and deliver it to my employer/government agency myself?
Yes. In most cases this is possible. However, in some cases the results must be sent directly to a third party (i.e. Federal government employment).
+ Will my fingerprints profile be recorded in RCMP or government database by applying for criminal record check?
No. According to RCMP "The fingerprints submitted to CCRTIS for criminal record checks are only used to confirm your identity. At no time are fingerprints added to a database where they could be subject to search."
